Dr. Dan Willis has served as a pastor and chaplain for nearly 30 years. He is an Ordained Minister in the Wesleyan Church, and has been at Free Life since 2001, where he serves as the Senior Pastor of both campuses. Pastor Dan has been in law enforcement for most of his life, beginning as a Military Police Officer in the United States Marine Corps. He resigned his commission as a Captain and left active duty in 1990, but continued as a Marine Reserve Officer for 3 more years. He has served as a Police Officer in Honolulu, Hawaii, and at The University of Notre Dame; as well as a Deputy Sheriff with the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office and the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii, a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from the University of Bristol, a Master of Religion from the University of London, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Ministry and Theology from the University of London. He did his post-Doctoral work in Ministry, Theology, and Apocalyptic Literature. He has served as an adjunct professor of Philosophy, Ministry, Religion and Theology with Indiana Wesleyan University and is currently a professor of theological studies at Kingswood University. He is a Master Law Enforcement Chaplain with the International Police Chaplains and the Sheriff’s Chaplaincy Conference, where he continues to serve as a board member, curriculum developer and Senior Instructor. Pastor Dan is a member of the Wabash Valley Ministerial Association, the former Community Spiritual Director for the El Shaddai Emmaus Community, and the former Chairman of the Wabash Valley Long-term Disaster Recovery Coalition; where he administrated a 7-Million Dollar grant from the Lilly Foundation, to help displaced families from the flood of 2008 in Southern Indiana. He currently serves as the Chairman of the District Board of Ministerial Development for the Indiana South District of the Wesleyan Church, and is also a member of the District Board of Administration. His hobbies including building and repairing computers; fellowship time with lots of different people, riding his Harley, cooking, baking, smoking meats, and trying different coffees. He is an avid Notre Dame, Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Black Hawks, and Boston Celtics Fan. He has been married to Beth, his wife, soulmate, best friend, and better-half for 30 years; they have 6 children and 15 grandchildren. He has coached football, wrestling and baseball; is a wrestling referee, and loves movies, sports, teaching, training and encouraging ministers, helping to bring people into a deeper relationship and understanding with Jesus, and serving the Kingdom of God with his wife and family.
