SCRIPTURE: Matt. 5:13a, 15a & 16 (AMP) - "13 “You are the salt of the earth...14 “You are the light of [Christ to] the world... 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.
One of my all time favorite questions comes from Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade. About a quarter of the way into the movie, Harrison Ford's character, Indiana, finds out that his dad has been kidnapped looking for the Holy Grail of Christ. Commissioned to find his dad and simultaneously look for the Grail, a group of men try to stifle his efforts and even kill him. As this plays out in a speed boat chase scene, Indiana allows one of the men to sruvive because he knows ot the location of his dad. When Indiana releases the man after finding out the man's intent is to protect the Grail's location and location of dad, the man turns to Indiana and asks, "Dr. Jones, ask yourself why do you pursue the Grail? Is it for God's glory, or your own?" Would you disagree that in view of Matt. 5:16, the second part of that question should resonate with us all? Think about it, because otherwise, how can we be salt and the Light of Christ if what we are doing and who are being isn't in pursuit of God's glory? Otherwise, what are you chasing after; your own glory?
PRAYER FOCUS: Christ's Light would shine everywhere, specifically the schools in our community. That the students, faculty, and volunteers would be illumined, so men and women everywhere may see His good actions, and turn to praise our Father in heaven because of it.
