SCRIPTURE: Is. 58:6-7 AMP - [Rather] is this not the fast which I choose, To undo the bonds of wickedness, To tear to pieces the ropes of the yoke, To let the oppressed go free And break apart every [enslaving] yoke? [7] Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry And bring the homeless poor into the house; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not to hide yourself from [the needs of] your own flesh and blood?
How do you ask our Father to bless you? Do you ask for just enough for yourself? Or, do you try to selflessly ask for just enough to possibly dribble over to others? Or, as Dr. Tony Evans does, asks for a big enough blessing so that he can use that to be a blessing to someone else? We live in so much abundance and yet live with such a scarcity mindset, that we miss so many opportunities to be the blessing we are called to be. Father, we don't want to miss out on Your opportunities while clinging so tightly to things that are going to fade away or be shaken in the final days. Help us to be overly generous and outlandish with our blessings so that we bless others with what came from Your hand anyway.
PRAYER FOCUS: For believers to see the poor and needy in their neighborhood, like Jesus did, and have compassion on them.
