What is Your Rep.?
By Kris Robinson
“As for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and intelligence in every branch of literature and wisdom; Daniel even understood all kinds of visions and dreams. Then at the end of the days which the king had specified for presenting them, the commander of the officials presented them before Nebuchadnezzar. The king talked with them, and out of them all not one was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king’s personal service. As for every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king consulted them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and conjurers who were in all his realm.”
Deportation + Faithfulness = Reputation
“It’s Science!” So, what is your reputation? Whether you like to admit it; you HAVE one! In the last blog (Are You Qualified?), I gave a short listing of qualities that the ‘four youths’ exhibited in their ‘life & death’ interview. As a result of those qualities, Daniel takes initiative based on his convictions, to take a risk and not allow his circumstances determine his actions or the actions of his friends; v.8 “But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself…” Daniel acted in a manner not only being mindful of his friends, but the foreign ‘steward’ as well.
Good leaders, while sometimes having to risk going alone, are well-informed. They understand who they really are, the situation/circumstance, who they are in charge of, what is expected of them, and they can control their choices without worrying about other’s responses. Additionally, Christian leaders act in such a manner, yet with an advantage of being able to trust in a God Who has our best interests in mind (Ro. 8:28). Think about it:
Could God have kept Babylon from taking over Israel?
Could God have kept the ‘four’ from being taken captive?
Could God have given you a different career path?
Could God have placed you in a different part of the world?
Could God have you attending another church?
Could God have blessed other people with abilities that you have?
Could God have given you a different set of circumstances or situation?
Is God in control? Or are you?
Like Daniel, your reputation will be shaped by how you answer the last question?
Would love to know and see your response on Facebook.
