SCRIPTUREPhp. 2:3-4 (NKJV) - "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others."

Chip Ingram posed this question from this passage, "who is more important than you are?"  Then goes on to say, "these verses make it crystal clear that God calls you in practical ways to put others ahead of yourself -- which can be hard!"  Secondly, if we want to see the kind of unity within the church that we constantly long and pray for, it often begins by putting these verses into action.
PRAYER FOCUS:  What better way than to start by using prayer for Paul, in Ro. 15:13 (NKJV) - "Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."  May He also fill us with opportunity to put other's interests, according to The Will of God, ahead of our own selfish ambition and narcissistic tendancies.  As Paul goes on to say in Php. 2:5, let us have the same attitude of Christ who sacrificed everything in order to bring about God's glory and not that of man!
